Civil Secretariat, Other Offices to Reopen at Winter Capital of J&K in November

Srinagar 31 October (KNB): Civil Secretariat was closed on Friday, other Darbar offices will close on Saturday as part of the Darbar Move and all the offices will reopen at Jammu on 9thNovember, officials said.

The civil secretariat and other Darbar move offices function in Srinagar for six months of summer and in Jammu for the remaining six months of the year. Darbar move’, a practice started by Maharaja Gulab Singh in 1872.

Officials stated that civil Secretariat and other Darbar move offices, which observe a five-day week, were closed on Friday, while the offices observing a six-day week will close on Saturday.

Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the government allowed Jammu-based employees to stay back in the winter capital while valley-based employees were directed to report to work in May this year, However, all employees were directed to report to work in July, two months after the scheduled opening of Darbar in Srinagar.

On Thursday, Government directed the Officials of Health Services Kashmir to ensure arrangements for Covid-19 Rapid Antigen Test in the Civil Secretariat Dispensary on 5th and 6thNovember, for the employees of Civil Secretariat, Srinagar, who would be shifting to Jammu in connection with the Annual Darbar Move.  (KNB)
