Srinagar 25 December (KNB): Amid great religious fervour, Christians celebrated Christmas in Srinagar on Saturday with major prayer functions held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Srinagar and recently reopened St. Luke’s Church.
A good number of worshippers thronged to the St. Luke’s Church located at the foothills of Shankaracharya hillock in Srinagar after being reopened for more than 30 years. The prayers at the Church went through smoothly in the presence of a good gathering.
At the Holy Family Catholic Church, M.A road Srinagar, worshippers were also seen in large numbers from the early morning making a beeline for church and later participated in the prayers held around afternoon.
“Today is an important day for the Christians, and I want to extend best wishes to all the people of J&K on this important occasion. I hope that God keeps all the people in good health and the coming year will be prosperous for all of us,” said Father Stalin Raja of Holy Family Catholic Church.
As the atmosphere in churches in Srinagar was full of zeal and exuberance with the presence of Christians of different age groups, one of the Christian worshippers said that she was delighted and wished all the people a “Happy Christmas”.
“I want to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and hope that all the people will remain safe from the pandemic we are in,” prayed the lady Christian worshipper. (KNB)
