CAPD Official Caught Red Handed While Accepting Bribe: CBI

Jammu 22 October (KNB): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Junior Assistant working in the office of Food Supply Officer, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, District Rajouri for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 22,500 from the father of the complainant.

The CBI officials stated that they registered an FIR on the complaint against Shadab Chowdhary, Junior Assistant / Control Clerk working in the office of Food Supply Officer, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, District Rajouri under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) on the allegations that he demanded bribe of Rs 22,500 (30 per cent of commission amount) for crediting carriage and commission amount of Rs.75,419 in the account of complainant’s father (a ration dealer in Manjakote, Rajouri for supply of food items under PDS).

After credit of said amount, Shadab Chowdhary, Junior Assistant was pressurizing the complainant and his father for payment of bribe, Officials said. 

CBI stated that they laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 22,500. 

“Searches were conducted at the residential and official premises of the accused,” Officials said. 

Further adding that the ACB sleuths have seized some documents from his residence for further investigation. (KNB)
