Doda 15 Nov (KNB): In a tragic incident today, a bus carrying passengers veered off the Batote-Kishtwar highway in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, plunging into a gorge. The accident has resulted in the loss of 36 lives, while 19 individuals sustained injuries.Union Minister Jitendra Singh conveyed the devastating news, highlighting ongoing efforts to rescue and provide medical assistance. A helicopter service is being utilized to airlift the injured to nearby medical facilities.
Expressing deep sorrow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his condolences to the affected families. He announced a financial support package, offering Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to those injured in the tragic incident.
Authorities are actively engaged in rescue operations, and further investigations will be conducted to determine the cause of this heartbreaking accident. (KNB)
