Srinagar, Feb 18(KNB):The winter snowfall and rains badly exposes the Road and building department ,as roads macdamize six months back has got the patholes and puddles ,showing the quality of the material used by the contractor to macdamize the road on Batpora- crossing road , in the outskirts of the Srinagar district
People alleged that the road connecting the areas of the Tailbal ,shalimar Alusteng … with the main Srinagar city was repaired and macdamized after the various appeals and struggle in the month of the August ,but after a mere month the macdamization top started to break and conditions of the road has become worst than before,,
Maqsood Ahmad a local resident talking to KNB said ” The issue of usage of sub _standard materials goes unabated , the government is spending a lot of money for the construction of roads but unfortunately the money goes in the pockets of the corrupted contractors and officials,,
The local demand a high-level probe in the alleged faulty macadamization works carried out by the R&B department across the district.
The locals alleged that the R&B is running a mafia as the engineers and the officials are playing a hand in glove with the contractors to approve the bills to these miscellaneous contractors , there has been no accountability of such frauds in the department .
On contacting the Assistant Executive Engineer Division 1st Srinagar R&B Fayaz Ahmad , said ” I will look into the matter and ensure the problem will be sorted out immediately ,,
” He added that the road is covered with the chinar trees which results in the bad condition of the roads and there is a proposal to make that portion of the road concrete”(KNB)
