Srinagar 27 September (KNB): Locals of  Wansran village of North Kashmir Baramulla’s Narvaw Tehsil on Monday said that they have been facing immense problems as the area, around 12 Kms away from the main town, has been left without a mobile tower.

As per the locals, the village contains around 30 houses and have been neglected and deprived from the facility like a mobile tower. They said that the people of the village are suffering amid no access to calling, much less about internet usage.

“Barely sometime a call gets connected among a number of attempts. The people of the area are facing problems without the installation of a tower. Not a single SIM is working in the village including the top ones,” said a local, Mehrajuddin Bhat.

He said that their calls barely get connected sometimes owing to the distant towers, which do not fall in the village of Wansran. Bhat said that the locals would have been able to get access to strong network connection with the installation of mobile towers in the area.

Bhat said that they had taken up the matter with one of the telecom network companies but nothing was provided from their end. “We are also ready to give our land for putting up the mobile tower, but no seems serious about our concerns,” Bhat rued.

However, another local said that they feel disconnected from the rest of J&K with the tenuous network connection amid the absence of mobile towers in their area.

The locals also appealed to the concerned authorities for the redressal of the issue forthwith.

On contacting Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar, regarding the issue, he said that there are enough areas in the district where no network connectivity is existing, but in around the last ten days a few number of towers have started to work. “We are in constant touch with network service providers and are trying our best. Some days ago, two towers were operated in Uri and were in demand for a long time,” said Kumar.

He also said that they would examine the concerned area and, if feasible, would also put up the tower in the village. (KNB)
