Srinagar 10 December (KNB): Two policemen were left critically injured and later died after coming under an indiscriminate firing of militants at Gulshan Chowk area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora on Friday late afternoon.
Police said that the attack took place around 5:15 pm at Gulshan Chowk when a police party was fired upon by militants, resulting in critical gunshot injuries to two policemen.
The injured duo were later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but both policemen died of their injuries. The deceased policemen have been identified as SgCt Mohd Sultan and Ct Fayaz Ahmad.
Following the attack, security forces rushed to the spot and sealed the area to nab the attackers behind the incident.
Police, in the wake of the incident, said that a case has been registered in this regard under relevant sections of law. Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the circumstances which lead to this terror crime, said police. (KNB)
