Srinagar, Jan 11 (KNB): A major fire broke out at the three storied house of Abdul Aziz Malik in Jamia Mohalla adjacent to the Boniyar Market. The fire was probably due to a short circuit causing immediate threat to the entire mohalla and adjacent shops of Boniyar market.
Timely information was provided to the Army at Rampur and Boniyar who immediately pressed four Water Bowsers into service to control the spread of fire till the fire brigade and other fire fighting parties arrived from Baramulla and Uri.
The Army worked hand in hand with the civil population gathered at the site and averted a major fire tragedy in the town by showing tremendous presence of mind and prevented major damage to property and loss of life. The owner, local Awaam and civil administration and police authorities expressed their gratitude and thanked the Army for their prompt action and assistance.
The timely civic action will definitely go a long way in strengthening the strong bond between the Awaam and the Army. (KNB)
