Kupwara 21 Aug: Army Soldiers of the Machhal Sector celebrated Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala. The celebration commenced with lighting the sacred lamp that was surrounded by the traditional pookolam, a flower rangoli followed by the sumptuous Onam Sadya.
The celebration was the epitome of unity in diversity, as soldiers from the length and breadth of the country participated shoulder to shoulder in the preparations and in celebrating the occassion. The limitations of COVID 19 protocols and the grief of being away from loved ones did not dampen the spirits of the troops. The fervour of the celebrations was extended to the Kashmiri brethren of Machhal wherein all attendees broke bread together.
The celebrations was symbolic of the prosperity, progress and bonhomie being enjoyed equally amongst AWAM and Jawan.
