Srinagar 07 July (KNB): Locals of Srinagar’s Sariabala area on Wednesday staged a protest against a shopkeeper, who allegedly assaulted a resident of the area yesterday after an argument over an illegal parking of vehicles and other issues.
The locals of the area said that the accused shopkeepers (son and father) had beaten the person, who is the resident of Sariabala and runs a shop in the area as well. They said that the victim was beaten with the iron rod, after he had probably raised the issue of illegal parking by shopkeepers in the area in front of them, which resulted in a fracture to his neck
Shahnawaz Ameen Khan, a local implied that the incident occurred on the issue of illegal parking of shopkeepers in the area and keeping of selling articles outside of the shops’ boundaries.
Last time a person was murdered on the same issue and we do not want such things to continue in the future. We have even apprised the concerned police about the incident and they must immediately intervene in it,” Khan added.
Mohd Bilal Bazaz, representing Sariabala Traders Association, said that the reason behind the incident is the wrong parking and some other personal issues between the accused and victim.
He further said that association is with the residents and seeked for investigation into the unfortunate incident. (KNB)
