Anantnag 17 October (KNB): A militant was killed in a gun-battle on Saturday Morning in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Officials told Kashmir News Bureau that one unidentified militant has been killed and an AK47 rifle was recovered from his procession.
In a tweet an Army Spokesperson Rajesh Kalie said, “A joint operation was launched today early morning based on @JmuKmrPolice inputs. Cordon was laid and contact was established. Firefight ensued. One militant Killed. One AK recovered. Joint operation in progress.”
Earlier, an official said that a joint team of Police, army’s 18 RR and CRPF launched a massive cordon and search operation in Larnoo Kokernag of Anantnag district.
He said that as the joint teams of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter. (KNB)
