Amendments in J&K Land Laws Unacceptable: JKPM

Srinagar 27 October (KNB): J&K Peoples Movement has criticised the Central Government over the recent amendments in the land laws in J&K.

In a press statement issued to Kashmir News Bureau, JKPM Senior Vice President Advocate Syed Iqbal Tahir said that the amendment is aimed at disempowering & disenfranchising the people of J&K.

Tahir further said that the new land laws are unacceptable to us.

“While there are various states whereby no outsider can buy land, the same protection has been taken away from us. It is clear that the government wants to alter the character of J&K,” Iqbal Tahir said.

He further said that these amendments are bound to add to the fears of demographic changes and alter the Muslim majority character of the state.

JKPM Senior Vice President said, such measures are a part of larger design aimed to destroy the distinct cultural, linguistic and religious identity of J&K. (KNB)
