Srinagar, Sep 30: Amar Singh College, Srinagar, on Wednesday organised Phase-I of its Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations-2026, featuring an inter-college symposium and Shanti Doot presentations on the theme “Truth and Non-Violence.”
The event saw participation from colleges across Srinagar, with students discussing the relevance of truth, peace, harmony and Gandhian values in contemporary society.
Padma Shri Dr. S. P. Verma, President, Gandhi Global Family (J&K), attended the programme as Guest of Honour and delivered a special address on “Truth, Non-Violence and Humanity: The Gandhian Road Ahead.”
Aishah Zahoor of Gandhi Memorial College secured the first position and was adjudged Shanti Doot for District Srinagar. Shahid Pervaiz of Amar Singh College secured the second position, while Afeefa Khurshid of Government Degree College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar, secured the third position.
The programme was organised by the Debates, Seminars and Conferences Committee in collaboration with the NSS and Electoral Literacy Club of Amar Singh College.
