Ahead of Ramadan, Divisional Commissioner Says No Bar On Prayers, Worship Gatherings at Present in Kashmir

Srinagar 13 April (KNB) On the eve of Ramadan, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P K Pole Tuesday said that at the moment, there would be no bar on the religious gatherings in Kashmir.

Div Com told the Kashmir News Bureau that the current scenario is not such that the religious functions would be restricted. “If the situation goes awry, then definitely the administration will take appropriate measures,” he said.

He further said that the Covid protocol depends on the evolving situations, and administrations assess it every week so that the measures, which conditions demands, will be taken accordingly.

Regarding the ongoing night curfews and Taraweeh prayers, P K Pole said there is no problem because Taraweeh prayers end before the starting of night curfews and people at the Fajr after having Sehri prefer to go to nearby mosques for prayers than to opting far off ones which could augur badly in times of Covid.

“Although there is local administration to look after the areas in Ramadan to prevent any exigencies from developing. Besides, proper facilitation will be provided for the conducting of prayers during Ramadan,” said Div Com.

He also said that the administration is on the ball for the provision of necessities to the people during Ramadan so that those on the fast would not have to face problems. 

“I am also requesting the people who are going to be on fast during Ramadan to please make prayers for the peace and prosperity of the valley,” P K Pole said. (KNB)
