Srinagar 8 April (KNB): After J&K LG Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said that strict action shall be taken against officials not attending to public grievances; Former MLA Baramulla and Chief Spokesperson Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party Javid Baig took a jab at the bureaucrats for not performing their duties and redressing the grievances of general public.
Talking to Kashmir News Bureau, Baig said that after the abrogation of article 370, Prime Minister of India and Home Minister of India, on the floor of the house and outside as well as on 15th August, 26th of January, claimed that Jammu and Kashmir will have corruption free, transparent and accountable government.
They promised good governance, development on ground and peace but talked about all these things, the only thing that we can agree on is that order has been maintained in J&K. “There is a clear difference between peace and order,” he added.
During our times — as far as good governance, transparency, accountability is concerned– when regional political parties were in power, we were better off, Baig said.
“Even during our worst times then, we showed better governance, transparency, accountability and were much more public friendly than compared to what we are witnessing now,” he said, adding that our concern was always inclined towards the betterment of our people.
Baig also claimed that few officers have hijacked the developmental agenda of PM Narendra Modi for Kashmir.
Ex MLA said that the Centre is being lied to about the development and good governance-taking place in Kashmir.
“On ground there is no development, no redressal of public grievances in Kashmir,” he claimed.
He further requested the LG Governor Manoj Sinha to inquire about the condition of common people on ground and see if what is being shown to him is true or not.
Baig said that people of Jammu and Kashmir have realized what they have lost but now it is too late and upto to the bureaucrats for as long as they want to rule us.
He told Kashmir News Bureau that the bureaucracy in Kashmir is misleading the PM of India and even the LG Manoj Sinha.
Baig further claimed that several projects such as Medical colleges, projects coming under CRF, etc. that have been inaugurated in Kashmir in recent times, are the same projects he, during his tenure as MLA, had started.
He asked that the administration should show which new projects have they launched.
When asked about the impact of LG’s order over officers about attending public grievances, Baig responded, “After the August 5 decision, they claimed that the corrupt politicians will be put behind bars, has that been done? They said that some bureaucrats, involved in corruption, were made to refund some money but afterwards what action was taken against them?”
“They have the powers and will only replace one officers with another and that’s it,” he said, adding that the political system in Kashmir has been dragged down on their knees in front of the bureaucrats and their rule is at its worst during the current times in the valley.
Regarding the same, Chief of CPI (M) Mohd. Yusuf Tarigami said that LG Manoj Singh from the beginning has stressed upon officers to meet the general public and the same was being followed but some among them are not doing it.
“LG Manoj Sinha ensuring the same is a good thing administratively,” he said.
When asked about the grievances of people from his native place ‘Kulgam’ being redressed, Tarigami said that if the problems of the people were being solved then why would anyone be still suffering.
Officers’ meeting those people with grievances is good but when it comes to redressing the problems of the general public, of which there is a long queue, has not started yet. (KNB)
