Srinagar, Dec 13(KNB): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on Friday distributed appointment letters to the next of kin (NoKs) of terror victims at a function held at Lok Bhavan, marking a significant step towards providing long-awaited relief and rehabilitation to families affected by terrorism.
The event witnessed emotional scenes as families, who had waited for years for support, received appointment letters under the government’s compassionate employment policy. Locals present at the venue hailed the initiative, terming it a humane and much-needed move by the LG-led administration.
Expressing gratitude, one of the beneficiaries said it had been over 20 years since his father was killed by terrorists. “We struggled a lot all these years. Nobody came forward to help us. Today, LG Sahib came for us and gave us hope and dignity. This appointment letter means a new beginning for our family,” he said.
Another terror victim’s family member, who lost a loved one in a terror attack in 2019, shared a similar experience. “Since the attack, we kept moving from one office to another seeking help, but no one listened to us. Today, we are receiving this appointment letter only because of LG Manoj Sinha Sahib,” the victim said, thanking the administration for addressing their long-pending demand.
Speaking on the occasion, LG Manoj Sinha reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring justice, dignity and sustained support to families affected by terrorism. He said the administration stands firmly with the victims and will continue to take concrete steps to rehabilitate them and address their grievances.
The initiative has been widely welcomed by the public, with many locals lauding the LG Governor for reaching out to terror-hit families and restoring their faith in the system.(KNB)
