ACB Arrests Patwari for Alleged ₹10,000 Bribe Demand in Land Records Entry

Budgam, 05 October (KNB): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Ashiq Hussain, Patwari of Halqa Sharifabad, Budgam. He stands accused of allegedly demanding a ₹10,000 bribe in exchange for facilitating an online entry in the revenue records, known as Jamabandi.

The ACB’s swift action was prompted by a written complaint filed by a concerned citizen, alleging that Ashiq Hussain sought the bribe for land record services.

In response, the ACB initiated an investigation leading to the registration of Case FIR No. 21/2023 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at the ACB Srinagar Police Station.

According to the statement, a dedicated trap team as part of the investigation, executed a meticulously planned operation resulting in the apprehension of Ashiq Hussain while he allegedly accepted the ₹10,000 bribe from the complainant.

Following the completion of all necessary formalities, he was promptly arrested at the scene.
