Abdul Ahad Peer, example of discrimination by State Forest Department

Srinagar, Mar 26 (KNB): Abdul Ahad Peer son of Ghulam Ahmad Peer resident of Dragmulla Kupwara was appointed as cleaner in Govt Lumbering Undertakings on 27.09.1975 and subsequently promoted as junior grade Driver in year 1987, and the services of him along with others was transferred to Forest Department along with others is example of how honest government employees are left stagnant and not given their due, as he retired on same post in year 2017.

Pertinently, he has been ignored every time and his junior colleagues promoted as Senior Drivers and subsequently as Chauffeurs. In a matter of great injustice, four employees all junior to him have been promoted as Chauffeurs by the Chief Conservator of Forest Kashmir vide Forest Order NO.385 of 2015 dated 31 -08-2015 but the applicant was ignored every time.

The height of injustice is that despite figuring at number one in the final seniority list of Junior Grade Drivers of Kashmir province released on 01-12-2016 circulated vide Chief Conservator of Forest Kashmir region, Abdul Ahad Peer was still left out.

Department Promotion Committees kept on meeting but every time he was left out and at one instance when Abdul Ahad visited the office of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Jammu and Kashmir Government with his genuine plea , there one Feroz Ahmad (Sectional Officer) used abusive and unparliamentarily language against him and instigated others to drag him out.

At one instance, few years back after inquiry conducted under the orders of then forest Minister Mian Altaf the few undue promotions were cancelled and loss to exchequer recovered from the officials who had done these in corrupt manner.

“The facts speak for themselves how in gross violation of the Article 14 I have been deprived from the right of promotion and discrimination. Forest officials Mohammad Shafi, Manzoor Ahmad, Feroz Ahmad misguided me and always resorted to dilly dally, undue tactics against me and damaged my genuine cause,” states Abdul Ahad Peer while talking to The Kashmir News Bureau.
