Srinagar, June 25(KNB): In the wake of the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, the Congress party has intensified its nationwide campaign against the Centre, announcing Collectorate Gheraos on August 1 in 28 cities across the country, including Srinagar, under its “Chhatron Ki Goonj” initiative.
The party alleged that repeated incidents of examination paper leaks, cancelled recruitment tests and delays in government hiring have severely impacted the future of millions of students and job aspirants. Congress accused the Union Government of failing to safeguard the integrity of the country’s examination system and ensure transparency in the recruitment process.
As part of its demands, Congress has sought the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and called for an independent and impartial probe into the alleged nexus involving paper leak syndicates, examination agencies and officials. The party has also demanded comprehensive reforms in the examination and recruitment system, including the introduction of a fixed annual examination calendar.
Congress said the campaign will continue throughout July with student outreach programmes, campus interactions and public meetings before culminating in district-level Collectorate Gheraos on August 1. The first phase of the agitation is scheduled to conclude with a nationwide “Delhi Chalo” mobilisation on August 9.
In its campaign material, the party claimed that recurring paper leaks have emerged as a national crisis, affecting lakhs of students and eroding public confidence in educational institutions. It asserted that the issue extends beyond education and directly concerns employment, equal opportunity and the future of the country’s youth.
The proposed agitation is expected to witness participation from students, job aspirants and youth groups across India, with Srinagar among the designated venues for the August 1 protest programme. (KNB)
