Baramulla 19 May(KNB): A peaceful candlelight protest was organised today by the Non-Gazetted Employees Forum of Government Medical College Baramulla in support of employees facing long-pending service issues and stagnation in promotions.
The protest was held in a peaceful and disciplined manner, with employees gathering to express their concerns and solidarity with staff members working across various medical colleges. The participants highlighted that despite years of dedicated service, many employees have not received promotions for the last seven years, resulting in continuous mental stress and frustration among the workforce.
While speaking during the protest, one employee said that the prolonged stagnation without career progression has badly affected the morale of employees. He stated that workers have continued to perform their duties sincerely despite facing uncertainty regarding their professional growth.
The employee further added that the six-day-long strike earlier called by the employees was suspended after the assurance given by Javid Hassan Baig. He said that the employees respect and trust the assurance of the worthy MLA and hope that the genuine demands and concerns of the employees will be addressed in a positive and time-bound manner.
The Non-Gazetted Employees Forum reiterated that their movement remains peaceful and democratic and appealed to the administration and concerned authorities to take necessary steps for resolving the long-pending issues of the employees at the earliest.(KNB)
