Junior Girls Team Reaches Nagaland for National Championship

Srinagar 04 Dec(KNB): The Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council under the Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K has commenced the Senior National Men’s Santosh Trophy Coaching Camp at Parade Ground, Jammu, with 32 athletes reporting for the fully residential preparatory camp. The camp is being led by ex-India International Ishfaq Ahmed, who is steering the team through an intensive training schedule designed to enhance tactical awareness, physical conditioning, and match preparedness.

Football remains one of the most popular and passionately followed sports in the world and holds a special place in the hearts of the youth of Jammu & Kashmir, where the game continues to inspire thousands of aspiring players. This year’s preparations come on the back of J&K’s impressive performance in the previous edition of the Santosh Trophy, where the team delivered spirited displays, reached the quarterfinals, and earned national appreciation for its quality football and fighting spirit.

Meanwhile, the J&K Junior Girls Football Team has safely reached Dimapur, Nagaland, to participate in the Dr. Talimeren AO National Football Championship 2025. The young athletes, filled with enthusiasm and determination, are prepared to compete against the country’s best and represent J&K with pride.

Both the Senior Men’s and Junior Girls’ teams are fully equipped with technical staff, including coaches, physiotherapists, trainers, and support personnel, and are fully sponsored by the J&K Sports Council, which has ensured comprehensive logistical and infrastructural support.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Yasha Mudgal IAS, Commissioner Secretary, Youth Services & Sports, said:
“Football continues to grow rapidly across J&K, and our athletes have shown exceptional commitment. The Government is consistently working to strengthen coaching, infrastructure, and competitive exposure so that our teams can achieve podium finishes at the national level. I congratulate both squads and wish them the very best for their upcoming championships.”

Ms. Nuzhat Gul, Secretary, J&K Sports Council, in her remarks, said:
“Our athletes have repeatedly demonstrated that J&K possesses immense footballing talent. Through systematic coaching camps, scientific training, and full support systems, we aim to elevate the performance of both senior and junior teams.
