PDP Candidate Waheed-ur-Rahman Para Alleges Voter Suppression by Senior IPS Officer Ahead of Srinagar Polls

Srinagar, 12 May (KNB): In an unexpected turn of events, just one day before the Srinagar parliamentary Seat Polling, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth leader and candidate Waheed-ur-Rehman Para has made serious allegations against a senior IPS officer. Parra claims that ADGP Vijay Kumar has been directing officials to suppress voter turnout by detaining and harassing PDP workers.

In a Post on X, Para wrote “In the past, Kashmir has experienced boycotts at the behest of separatists. Today, we’re witnessing a similar scenario, with an IPS officer of ADGP rank, Mr. Vijay Kumar, allegedly directing officials to minimize voter turnout by detaining, harassing our workers. Such actions serve the interests of anti-national elements, not India. @PMOIndia @HMOIndia”

Para’s message, addressed to the official handles of the Prime Minister’s Office (@PMOIndia), the Home Ministry (@HMOIndia) and the Election Commission of India (@ECISVEEP), highlighted his concerns over alleged directives given by Mr. Kumar to minimize voter participation by detaining and harassing party workers.

Citing past instances of boycotts orchestrated by separatists in the region, Para drew parallels to the current situation, suggesting that such actions only served the interests of anti-national elements rather than India.-KNB
