Poonch Encounter: Firing Resumes at Bhata Dhurian After 46 Hours

Srinagar 22 October (KNB): A firing resumed on Friday morning at an encounter site in Bhata Dhurian forest area of Jammu’s Poonch district after 46 hours.  

The encounter has been going on in Poonch for the past several days and is entering into one of the protracted encounters fought between militants and security forces in J&K.

In the ongoing encounter, a number of army personnel including JCOs have been killed while fighting militants. Recently, it was also claimed by forces that a number of militants were also killed in retaliations. 

The encounter, if continued for more, would coincide with the Home Minister of India Amit Shah’s visit, which is going to start from tomorrow for three days. 

Recently, Army Chief General M M Naravane visited to J&K and assessed the situation along the LoC. During his visit, he was also informed about the ongoing counter-militancy operations by commanders. (KNB)
