Srinagar 03 July (KNB): National Conference’s Masrat Kar on Saturday became Municipal Council Sopore’s Chairperson after securing around 12 votes out of total 18.
Kar won the seat of Chairperson Municipal Council Sopore by a margin of six votes as her opponent Irfan Ali won just six votes, as per an official.
However, for the Vice-Chairperson post, Mohammad Yousuf Radoo won 12 votes.
It is pertinent to mention that the post of Municipal Council Chairperson was vacant from January 2021 after no confidence motion was moved against the former Chairman of MC, Sopore.
However after securing the seat of MC Chairperson, Kar expressed her gratitude to the councillors for electing her and promised of better development of the area in terms of civic amenities under her supervision. (KNB)
