Srinagar 8 May (KNB): 25th Postgraduate Research Presentation Program was inaugurated on Saturday at SKIMS auditorium, which was organized by the Department of Neurology SKIMS.
An official communique said that around 137 research papers would be presented during the two-day event, adding that the event is partly conducted through virtual mode considering the ongoing pandemic.
It further said that the inaugural ceremony was conducted in SKIMS auditorium with limited participants and all COVID- 19 protocols were followed.
Dr Rouf Asmi HOD Neurology and Organizing Chairman of the event welcomed the guests and expressed hope that the event will benefit the young scholars. “The event is a great opportunity for all to exchange information and knowledge and to promote scientific culture,” he said.
Director SKIMS/ Ex-officio Secretary to Govt. Dr. A. G Ahangar complimented the organizing department. He said the PGRP offers a great learning platform to young researchers to present their research in front of experts.
“This annual event is a hallmark of SKIMS which has always prioritized research, the essence of this university of Medical Sciences,” Dr Ahangar said.
Referring to pandemic Dr. Ahangar made an appeal to all to follow set Covid SOPs to contain the disease. He also stressed for judicious use of hospital resources which he said is need of the hour in a given crisis, be it oxygen or any other molecule of Medicine or supportive management and the most important Human Resource.
Dr Ahangar laid a lot of stress on immunization of all the staff members and fellow colleagues and the whole population at large that is otherwise vulnerable to this Pandemic.
He emphasized the need for joining heads and hands to strategize the combat against this virus — where we are fighting “Third World War” with an invisible enemy the Corona Virus that has threatened the very survival of the Human Race on this Planet.
On the occasion, Dean Medical Faculty SKIMS Dr. Omar Javed Shah said the event has a great importance wherein young doctors/ scholars showcase their research which eventually helps in better patient care and stressed that following ethics is nuances of research and young doctors must strive to follow them in spirit.
Furthermore, ex HOD Neurosurgery SKIMS & renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Mohd Afzal Wani who was the guest of honor gave a detailed presentation on Neurosurgery in Kashmir — an overview wherein he detailed out the history of neurosurgery facility at SKIMS and shared experiences.
Dr Samia Rashid, Principal GMC, graced the occasion as chief guest and Prof. Mohd Maqbool Wani, Neurosurgery & Organizing Secretary of the event presented the vote of thanks. (KNB)
