Srinagar April 30th (KNB): After the announcement of the imposition of lockdown in district Srinagar as well as in other districts of Kashmir was made by the administration in view of Covid19 surge, a complete picture of it was seen today unfolding in the summer capital of J&K and other districts.
With security forces deployed at almost every place in Srinagar, the movement of the general public was restricted. The forces were seen only allowing the persons belonging to essential service.
The roads leading to Lal Chowk have been sealed by the forces by laying concertina wires, and huge deployment of Police and CRPF were manning the streets.
A similar scenario is being reported from other districts of Kashmir as well, where no unnecessary movement of people and vehicles is being allowed.
The lockdown was decided by the government to impose after the spike of Covid cases in J&K and a spurt in deaths due to the virus. Last evening officials had told that UT reports 3474 cases of Covid positive with 26 deaths.
However, to prevent the virus from further gaining ground, the administration decided to put in place a complete lockdown in all the districts. The same was announced by the DCs of different districts from their twitter handles. (KNB)
