Srinagar 25 March (KNB): Another CRPF personnel succumbed to his injuries following the attack carried out by the militants in the Lawaypora area of Srinagar on Thursday.
According to a senior police official, two CRPF personnel succumbed to their injuries and were identified as ASI Manga Ram Barman and driver Ashok Kumar while two others had been injured in the militant attack in Srinagar’s Lawaypora.
However, the suspected militants behind the attack fled after opening fire on the CRPF party in the outskirts of Srinagar. The injured CRPF men were later taken to a hospital for treatment.
Furthermore, the police in this regard said that “Preliminary investigation revealed that militants had fired indiscriminately upon a CRPF vehicle of 73Bn at Lawaypora on National Highway in which 04 CRPF personnel received bullet injuries. All the injured personnel were immediately evacuated to hospital for the treatment of their injuries. However, two of the injured namely SI Shri Manga Ram Dev Barman & Ct Ashok Kumar succumbed to their injuries.”
They further said that this attack was planned & carried out by the militants affiliated with proscribed terror outfit LeT. (KNB)
