Srinagar 16 February (KNB): The Meteorological department on Tuesday predicted that the wet spell is going to start in the valley from February 20 evening onwards after the continuing dry weather in Kashmir till this weekend.
Deputy Director MeT, Mukhtar Ahmad, told the News Agency — Kashmir News Bureau that the weather will remain dry till the evening of this month’s 20th. “There is a possibility of rain after February 20 which will be further confirmed after the two, three days by the department.”
He further said the temperature has also increased moderately, which will help in the likely precipitation, starting from Saturday evening.
However, the temperature in Srinagar takes a slight dip on Monday night, recording -0.9 degree C in comparison to the Sunday night’s -0.3 degree C.
Pertinently, the other areas of Kashmir recorded temperature as — Pahalgam -4.2 degree C, Gulmarg -4.0 degree C, Qazigund -2.5 degree C, Kokernag -0.6 degree C and Kupwara -2.8 degree C.
The harsh cold conditions earlier witnessed in Kashmir have subsided, particularly in the summer capital of J&K, after the improvement in temperature lingering close to subzero. (KNB)
