Srinagar, April 10 (KNB): In yet another violation of ceasefire by Pakistan along the Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir last evening two army soldiers were killed as the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged heavy fire and shelling.
“Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars from 1715 hours in Sunderbani sector along the Line of Control (LoC). Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively,” said an army spokesman.
He said two soldiers, identified as Rifleman Vinod Singh and Rifleman Jaki Sharma, were grievously injured in the exchange of fire. “They succumbed to their injuries,” he said.
Both the soldiers belonged to Jammu region. Singh, 24, belonged to Danapur, Jaurian village in Akhnoor district and Sharma, 30, belonged to Sanhail Hiranagar.
Borders have been volatile since long affecting adversely thousands of inhabitants in both the countries.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has paid rich tributes to the two soldiers who were killed in incident. The Chief Minister has conveyed her sympathies to the bereaved families. (KNB)
