7 Days of Covid Picture: Jammu’s Death Tally Outstrips Kashmir’s Despite Cases Spike in Valley

Srinagar 27 April (KNB): With Covid death number of 62 in Jammu outstripping Kashmir’s 47 in the last seven days, the Union Territory of J&K has reported a total number of 14682 cases during the same period, with 40.57% of cases from the Jammu division and 59.42% from Kashmir division, shows an official data.  

As the Covid cases are raging across the country and J&K, 162890 cases have been reported from the UT as of 26 April, among which 65309 are in Jammu, and 97581 are in Kashmir. However, a total of 8725 and 5957 Covid cases have been reported in Kashmir and Jammu, respectively, in seven days upto April 26.   

Till Monday, 20601 cases were reported positive, with a total of 140117 recovered and discharged in J&K. However, 2172 deaths have been reported in the UT till yesterday.

Official data have revealed that 1708 covid dedicated beds are available in the Kashmir division, and 742 patients have been admitted. It further said that 2724 isolation beds are available, among which 1540 are vacant. 

Pertinently, the Covid ICU beds available in Kashmir were 338 and 203 were vacant as of April 26. 

As the Covid vaccine has been put forward as the only prophylactic against the virus by scientists and experts, the total vaccination done in the UT stands more than 2 million. 

To vaccinate the people above 18 years old, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that the registration for it would be started from April 28 for all those between 18 and 45 years. (KNB)
