Srinagar 24 February (KNB): Basic Horticultural Trainees of Sheri-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) today staged another protested at the Press Enclave, Srinagar against the authorities; demanding to rollback the decision of withdrawing the Horticultural Technician Grade-IV posts advertised on 3rd February 2021 by the SSB.
Talking to Kashmir News Bureau, one of the protestors alleged, “This year, scholars, BSC horticulture, PHD holders were claiming that they are eligible for the said post,” adding that it is a technician Grade-IV post for which they are not at all eligible and for them senior technician and other posts are already there.
She said, “But afterwards, these PHD holders, etc. staged protests and were given the Grade-IV posts,” adding that now we people, belonging to poor families are qualified and have only done the courses required for this particular job.
“Why are we being neglected by the authorities?” she asked.
Further during the protest, these trainees raised slogans against the authorities and were carrying posters and placards which read: “Revoke Withdrawal Order” and “We Want Justice”.
Another protestor told KNB, “recruitment rule for the posts of Horticulture Technician Grade IV is 10+2 with basic one-year basic horticulture training and should be kept like that,” adding that for these PHD and other high qualified persons, senior technician and scientists post should be made available.
These protestors demanded that withdrawal orders regarding the posts should be rollbacked.
They said, “We want our voices to be heard by the higher administration so that only basic horticulture trainees could apply for the Grade-IV posts.” (KNB)
