Srinagar 09 June (KNB): Abdul Majeed Wani, 48, a resident of Nawrang Naradari Tehsil of North Kashmir’s Baramulla, went missing this morning after he left his rented room, said the family members of the missing person on Wednesday.
The family members of the missing person said that during their initial attempts to trace Wani on their own, they got to know that he had left from his rented room, which is in the main town Baramulla’s fish market, at around 5 am. “After leaving the room, he did not come back, and since then, his phone is off,” said a family member to KNB.
They said that Wani is a vegetable seller and a person of calm character. “He used to go for Fajr prayer regularly, but today he has not gone to the Mosque also,” said family members, which they got to know from the Mosque.
As per the family, two partners who used to share the rented room with Wani have been identified as Zahoor Ahmad, a resident of Kralgund Handwara and Muzamil Ahamd of Old Town Baramulla. Both the persons’ names have been mentioned in the complaint registered by the family of Wani in the police station to get any lead about him.
However, the family members further said they had registered a complaint in the police station Baramulla, but nothing seems to happen on the ground, they alleged.
When Kashmir News Bureau contacted SSP Baramulla Rayees Ahmad Bhat in this regard, he assured that he would check it.
Pertinently, SHO Baramulla said to KNB that the investigation was started as soon as they received the missing report. “The police team has been with the missing person’s family since the morning,” he said, adding, “an eye witness also told us that he left his room and took the phone with him, which had been off since then.”
He further said that the investigation is going on in the case. (KNB)
