Bandipora Shines again, Seven year old boy Wins Gold in Kickboxing Championship

Delhi 29 August (KNB): In yet another big achievement for Kashmir, Seven-year-old Kashmiri boy on Wednesday won the gold medal in the Nationl kickboxing Championship under sub junior in Talkatora stadium in Delhi.




Hailing from a remote village Sheikhmuqam Aloosa of district Bandipora, Suhaib has emerged as yet another young star from the region after winning a gold medal in a national Kickboxing Championship at Talkatora stadium in New Delhi.

He clinched the gold in the sub-junior category after defeating Mahrashtra, Delhi, West Bengal and Assam.

Talking to Kashmir News Bureau Showkat Ahmad father of Suhaib said, “This is very happy moment for us and for entire Kashmir. “I wish to see my son in Olympics games and with of help of Allah it will come true,” he added.

His coach J and K kickboxing Chief and Chairman Ali Sports Academy also expressed his happiness after the win. “It is a huge thing to win this gold, Suhaib faced a lot of hurdles to reach here.

“Every time when our academy beg gold, I feel my hard work on my players didn’t goes waste, I remember my time I was travelling 70kms from Bandipora to Srinagar every Sunday to take part because lack of facility in Bandipora, today I am happy that my students have that facility in their own village,” he added.

Mir Mannat and Laika Mushtaq won the medals on the very first day of the championship. Mannat defeated Punjab, Maharashtra, Telangana and finally West Bengal to win the gold. While as Laika defeated Maharashtra, Punjab, Delhi and eventually won gold medal by defeating Haryana.

In last two years, Bandipora created a history in sports by producing Tajamul Islam who won gold in world Kickboxing Championship by defeating USA opponent in Italy, Hashim Manzoor who won gold in world karate championship in Delhi and many other.


Important to mention here, two girls from Ali Sports Academy, Rabia Riyaz and Aabroo Bashir, hailing from North Kashmir s Bandipora district have qualified for the World Kickboxing Championship to be held in Argentina later this year (KNB)
