3rd Day After Geelani’s Death: Voice Calls, Broadband Services Restored Across Kashmir

Srinagar 4 September (KNB): Third day after the demise of Top separatist leader of Kashmir, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Cell Phones and Broadband connectivity was restored Friday night but Mobile internet services remain suspended.

After feeling unwell for some time, SAS Geelani (92) passed away at his Hyderpora residence around 10:30 pm on Wednesday and was later buried at a graveyard in the same area.

Immediately after his death, authorities enforced a strict security lockdown and communication blockade was witnessed for two consecutive days across the valley. Even though late Friday night cellular connectivity without internet services and broadband services were restored.

Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said, “So far situation remained peaceful & under control. Thanks for public’s cooperation in maintaining law & order.”

He further informed that mobile service (voice call) and broadband of all TSPs will open from Friday evening at 10pm.

Moreover, as per news agency Kashmir News Bureau reports, on the third day after SAS Geelani’s death, public and vehicular movement was observed in the city with government security forces deployed across the district to keep the law and order situation in check.

However, the heart of the city, Lal Chowk wore a deserted look as all the shops remained closed and only a slight vehicular moment was observed. (KNB)
