33 new Covid19 cases in J&K, tally jumps to 158

Srinagar 08 April (KNB): 33 fresh cases were tested positive for Coronavirus, taking the total number of such cases to 158  in Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier, J&K government spokesperson Rohit Kansal said “14 news cases today, 11 in Kashmir, 3 in Jammu. 139 cases in all now. 130 active cases, 27 in Jammu
division, 103 in Kashmir. Good news too: 2 patients discharged from SKIMS (hospital).”

According to media bulletin issued to Kashmir News Bureau (KNB), 40336 number of travellers and persons in contact with suspected and positive cases have been put under surveillance, while 8494 were put under home quarantine, including facilities operated by the government.

130 people are in Hospital Isolation, 518 in Hospital Quarantine, 23364 in Home surveillance, while 7830 people completed their 28 days surveillance period, Buletin said. 

“As many as 2269 samples have been sent for testing out of which 2116 are negative and 139 were tested positive in which 130 active positive, 11 from Kashmir and  3 from Jammu division. 

Meanwhile, two more patients have recovered, three deaths and 14 reports are awaited.

According to officials, 11 persons who tested positive today are residents of Srinagar, Baramulla and Bandipora districts in which four are from Bandipora, five from Srinagar with a travel history and 1 each from Tangmarg and a 16 years old boy from Kupwara. (KNB)
