22 Shops Gutted in Kupwara Fire Incident

Kupwara 17 December (KNB): Around 22 shops were severely destroyed in a massive blaze at Lawoosa area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

As per Kashmir News Bureau reports the fire raged at around 11:00 pm and engulfed the whole shopping complex of the area.

While speaking to Kashmir News Bureau an official from the Fire Control Station Kupwara said that the fire broke out due to the short-circuit and the 22 shops were severely damaged.

“We sent the fire tenders from the stations of Qalam Abad, Handwara, Pohru, Magam, Kralgund and others to control the situation,” official said.

One of the residences alleged that it took time for the fire servicemen to reach the place of incident.

Regarding the same the officials said, “Our vehicle had broken down on the way and distance between the nearest fire station and the spot of incident was huge.”

He added, “It is almost 17kms of distance between the spot and nearest fire station and that is why it took time for our servicemen to reach there.”

As per Kashmir News Bureau reports there was not any casualty in the incident and the fire was extinguished after the considerable efforts from fire service men. (KNB)
