Srinagar, June 24(KNB): A poor family of Noorbagh area of Srinagar district struggling for their rights since 16 years whose residential homes were demolished by the Government in 1998 have accused Srinagar Development Authority(SDA) for depriving them of their own land issued to the family as rehabilitation.
Shahzada, daughter of Raja Begum is struggling for her mother who is also a mental patient for their own land which than in 1998 was alloted to them in the form of rehabilitation by government after many residential homes at the bank of Kout koul were demolished and these families were allotted rehabilitation lands at Bemina Srinagar, however, the family members alleged that their land had been sold out to Mushtaq Ahmad Dar by the officials, thus depriving the family from their basic right by keeping them in dark.
The family said that they went to the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) office many times but could not get any concrete answer from them and are being ignored constantly by the authorities.
“We suffer on the daily basis because we don’t have a permanent residential place, I m living with my in-laws along with my mentally disabled mother who herself is not able to struggle for her right which has been deprived from her by the authorities, despite all the formalities and papers are complete officially the SDA department still don’t allot us our land and have sold it out to some other person namely Mushtaq Ahmad Dar who even don’t posses a single valid paper,” Shahzada told news agency Kashmir News Bureau.
“We appeal to all the concerned officials to have mercy on us and take our plea into consideration as we have been appealing for our rights since the last 20 years, If they fail to do so, we will be forced to immolate ourselves along with my family,” she further said.
Pertinently, the government had demolished many residential homes in 1998 at the banks of koat koal and rehabilitated them at Bemina under the government’s rehabilitation policy where almost every family has shifted and settled there, despite the land being allocated to the said family they are struggling still to get the ownery right of the land.
The family appealed to the Lt Governor to take the personal concern in this matter and solve the issue at the earliest.
When Kashmir News Bureau contacted Vice Chairman Srinagar Development Authority Vikas Kundal he said, “The case is under the investigation of the Crime branch, and till the completion of investigation we can not say anything.”
“We have called the family for further clarification,” he further said.(KNB)
