13th District Srinagar Taekwondo Championship Kicks Off

Srinagar, 20 August(KNB): The prestigious 13th District Srinagar Taekwondo Championship commenced with fervor and enthusiasm at the Multipurpose Indoor Hall Pologround in Srinagar today.

Organized under the auspices of the ‘My Youth My Pride’ initiative, this championship promises to showcase exceptional talent in the field of Taekwondo.

The inaugural day witnessed a remarkable display of combative prowess by cadets and sub-Junior athletes across both male and female categories. With participants hailing from various affiliated schools and clubs within the Srinagar district, the event saw over 150 players vying for supremacy in different weight categories.

Presiding over the opening ceremony was the undersecretary of the Government Forest Department and a fervent sports supporter, Rouf Ahmed Bhat. As the chief guest, Bhat extended his congratulations to all participants for their involvement in the championship. He also acknowledged the pivotal role played by the J&K Sports Council and the J&K Taekwondo Association in nurturing and advancing the practice of Taekwondo within the Union Territory.

Gracing the occasion were notable figures from the Taekwondo Association district unit in Srinagar, including Vice President and Secretary Nissar Hussain. The technical aspect of the championship was upheld by a dedicated team of referees led by international referee Master Atul Pangotra. The referee panel comprised proficient individuals such as Rohit Sharma, Suhail Khan, Shah Faiq, Musadiq, Faizan Ahmad, Tanveer, Adeeba, Aqib Gulzar, and Suhail Ahmed, all of whom ensured the integrity and fairness of the competition.

As a testament to the caliber exhibited during the championship, all medallists will earn the privilege of representing district Srinagar in the forthcoming 26th J&K UT Taekwondo Championships-2023.
