1,380 Police Personnel Awarded Medals on Occasion of I-Day 2021; 257 From J&K

Srinagar 14 August (KNB): 1,380 Police personnel have been awarded Medals on the occasion of Independence Day, 2021, the Ministry of Home Affairs said on Saturday, out of which 257 medals were given to the officers and personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The medals awarded, included Gallantry Medals, which were 2  President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) and 628 Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG).

The Service Medals included 88 President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) and 662 Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM).

As per the statement by the Ministry, among the majority of the 628 Gallantry Awards, 01 PPMG to J&K Police & 01 PPMG to CRPF (Posthumous) is being awarded, 398 personnel are being awarded for their gallant action in Jammu & Kashmir region, 155 personnel for their gallant action in Left Wing Extremism affected areas and 27 personnel for their gallant action in North-East Region.

Among the personnel receiving Gallantry Awards 256 are from J&K Police,  151 are from CRPF, 23 are from ITBP and 67 are from Odisha Police, 25 are from Maharashtra and  20 are from Chhattisgarh and the remaining from the other States/UTs and CAPFs.

Moreover, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Range, Vijay Kumar congratulated the 257 officers and personnels of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), who have been decorated with the Gallantry Medals on the Eve of 75th Independence Day of India.

Among the 257, (JKP) SI Amar Deep was awarded President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) and (CRPF) HC Late Kale Sunil Dattatraya was awarded PPMG (Posthu).

Kashmir Zone Police tweeted, “IGP Kashmir congratulates the officers and jawans of JmuKmrPolice (Jammu and Kashmir Police) who have been decorated with the highest ever, 257 Gallantry Medals this Independence eve.”

Pertinent to mention that Last year, J&K Police got the maximum (81) gallantry medals. (KNB)
