Srinagar 14 Dec(KNB): Despite orders from authorities to clear encroachment and provide posession of the land to it’s legal owner in Al Falah colony B K Pora in the Srinagar outskirts, no action has been initiated for a year now.
The case was pleaded before authorities by Nighat Sultan that as the legal owner of the land and the boundaries of the land were changed by ‘some people without her knowledge’. Case went forward and revenue department formed a team to look into the matter.
In June 2021 the team constituted by revenue department filed its report and demarcated the land. The team reported that on spot verfication depicted a house constructed, a road created and some plots carved in it.
Accordingly an order by divisional commissioner Kashmir passed directions that the encroachment be cleared and if need be police file the FIR.
The Div Com order also informs NIT dargah that one of their officials has encroached illegally on the land and she must vacate the premises and report be submitted to the office.
However, a year has passed and the encroachment exists and the owner awaits implementation of the official directions.
The owner of the land fears that land mafia in the area if blocking their claim and they are responsible for changes in the land plot.
Tehsildar BK pora told news agency KNB that they will look into the matter and assured action.
“The land mafia has land filled the kanals that would be water sources and now they are selling it to gullible customers while the cultivation land has become useless,” informed sources said.
They also claimed that one land broker who has amassed wealth by land grabbing is patronising the whole land mafia.(KNB)
