Srinagar, Jan 26(KNB): Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Surinder Choudhary, on Sunday reaffirmed the Omar Abdullah-led government’s commitment to regularising Daily Wagers, asserting that the promise made to them will be fulfilled.
“We have promised the regularisation of Daily Wagers and we will fulfil our promise,” the Deputy Chief Minister said while addressing a large gathering on the occasion of Republic Day at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, where he unfurled the national flag.
Lauding the role of security forces, Choudhary said the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, and other security agencies have played a decisive role in safeguarding peace and stability in the region. He said the forces have successfully crushed Pakistan-sponsored attempts to destabilise Jammu and Kashmir.
“Our forces have crushed Pakistan’s nefarious designs. Now, the next big challenge before us is to crush the drug mafia that is destroying our youth,” he said, calling for a united fight against drug abuse and narcotics networks.
Referring to Operation Sindhu, the Deputy CM said the security forces acted with courage and professionalism to foil efforts aimed at harming Kashmir, its people, and its tourism sector. He said sustained peace in the Valley is a direct result of the sacrifices made by the forces.
Choudhary cautioned against attempts to divide society on religious lines and appealed for unity and harmony. “Please do not divide us on the basis of religion. We are one. Some people are trying to create divisions, but the Omar Abdullah government will not allow this,” he asserted.
Describing Kashmir as a land known for hospitality and brotherhood, the Deputy CM urged people to preserve its cultural ethos and send a positive message to the world. “Kashmir is known for its hospitality. I appeal to the people of Kashmir to maintain it always and give this message to the world,” he said.
Highlighting the revival of tourism, Choudhary invited people from across the globe to visit the Valley, assuring them of safety and warmth. Quoting a famous line, he said, “Aay duniya kay logon, aao mere ghar, meri wadi ko niharo”—calling upon the world to come and witness the beauty of Kashmir.
He said improved security and peace have opened new avenues for development and tourism, adding that Jammu and Kashmir is steadily moving towards progress, unity, and prosperity. (KNB)
