Kashmir 5 November (KNB): The Directorate of School Education has issued a circular stating that all private recognized schools should desist from compelling the parents for purchasing books/uniforms from any particular shop and change of books each year.
It stated that some private recognized schools are still indulging in selling books/uniforms in the school premises and even parents are being forces to purchase books from some specific private shops, besides the exercise of replacing existing books with the new one is becoming habitual on part of recognized unaided private schools which have been views very seriously.
Further stating that this practice is against the instruction already issued on the subject.
It is once again enjoined upon all private recognized schools that they should desist from compelling the parents fro purchasing books/uniforms from any particular shop and change of books thereof, Further in order to have a wider choice for the parents for purchase of books/uniforms open price shall be allowed to be sold in the market, it read.
Adding that, any deviation from these instructions if noticed will be viewed seriously and action will be taken as per the provisions of Law, which may include de-recognition/withdrawal of NOC also.
It further directed All Chief Education Officers to constitute special monitoring teams headed by Deputy Chief Education Officer to verify the complaints received on amount of sale of books/uniforms by the schools, pressing parents for purchase from any particular shop and replacing existing books with the new one, making more burdens on the parents during present circumstances in the valley.
