Uproar again in State Assembly

Jammu, Dec 03 (KNB): The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly witnessed uproar once again on the Tuesday when Speaker at first disallowed their demand for discussion on civilian killings in Kashmir.




Pertinently the Opposition parties had also raised slogans and jumped in the well soon after the Governor N.N. Vohra walked in to address the joint session.
The opposition had earlier moved an adjournment motion for today seeking suspension of all business to discuss civilian killings and the security situation in Kashmir. Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Sukhnandan Kumar had also walked out of the House after he approached the Speaker’s podium alleging that his constituency was facing “biased approach” from the state government.
Reversing his earlier ruling, Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta decided to allow an hour-long discussion on civilian killings in the Valley during 2017.
Around 400 people from militants, civilians to soldiers were killed in violence in Jammu and Kashmir in 2017. On the harsher side, the ceasefire violations, which amounted to 228 in 2016, have reached 503 this year (till October 5).
 
Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, M R Singh today informed the House about the Bills passed by the state Legislature and assented to by the Governor. (KNB)
