Baramulla, Jan 2(KNB): Unauthorized absence of employees in several key government departments has severely impacted public service delivery in Pattan town of Baramulla district, sparking widespread resentment among residents.
According to official sources, three Assistant Executive Engineers, along with several other employees from major departments including the Horticulture Department, Mechanical Sub-Division Office, and Irrigation Sub-Division Pattan, were found absent from duty during working hours. The absenteeism reportedly caused disruption in official functioning and significant inconvenience to the general public.
Taking serious note of the issue after receiving multiple complaints of habitual absenteeism, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Pattan, Gulzar Ahmad (JKAS), deputed an Executive Magistrate to conduct on-the-spot inspections of the concerned offices. During the inspection, attendance registers were seized for verification and further action in accordance with the relevant service rules.
The SDM assured that strict disciplinary action would be initiated against all employees found unauthorizedly absent from their duties, stressing that indiscipline and negligence in public service would not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, residents have demanded stern and exemplary action against the absentee officials, alleging that many of them are repeat offenders whose continued negligence has adversely affected governance and public trust in the administration.(KNB)
