Sopore 22 Feb(KNB): Two unidentified militants have been killed in an encounter with security forces in Warpora area in North Kashmir’s sopore on Friday.
Earlier Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in the warpora area of Sopore on Friday following information about the presence and movement of militants in the area.The operation turned into an encounter after the militants fired on the search party of the forces, who retaliated.
Reports reaching KNB said that two unidentified militant were killed in the encounter that broke out on Thursday late evening after Army’s 22 RR, and SOG launched a cordon-and-search operation in Warpora area of Sopore.
An official said that the search is going on and the identification of duo is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, several youth were injured during the clashes that erupted between youth and forces near the gunfight site.
Sources told KNB that the hiding militants opened fire upon the troops, however the militants managed to escape the initial site of the gunfight, the troops continued the search operations during which militants again opened fire, triggering an encounter.(KNB)
