Srinagar 11 April (KNB): In an encounter in South Kashmir’s Shopian that broke out last afternoon, two more unidentified militants have been killed in operation, said police on Sunday morning.
During the encounter yesterday evening, one of the militants was killed by the forces, thus taking the toll to three as police have officially confirmed killing another two militants.
Among the trapped militants, a teenage militant was the one for whom parents were brought to the encounter site to persuade him to surrender.
“Police & security forces made sincere efforts to take surrender of newly recruited militant. Parents also made appeals but other militants didn’t allowed him to surrender,” said police quoting the IGP Kashmir.
About the Shopian encounter, police further said, “ 02 more unidentified militants killed (toll 03). Search going on.”
However, regarding another encounter that broke out in south Kashmir’s Bijbehara yesterday afternoon, officials have not confirmed any latest updates about the same.
Furthermore, the twin encounters, which officials informed about on the last day, came after the two separate encounters fought, days ago, in Shopian’s Jan Mohalla and another in Tral’s Nowbugh area. During the two encounters, AGuH chief among seven militants was killed by the forces and had recovered seven AK rifles and two pistols from both the encounter sites, as IGP had said. (KNB)
