Srinagar 26 March (KNB): Two militant associates behind yesterday’s lawaypora attack have been arrested by the police while the other Lashkar-e-Toiba militant claimed to be involved in the attack is yet to be arrested, said IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar.
Total of three persons behind the lawaypora attack among whom one has been identified as LeT militant Nadeem Abrar Bhat alias Abu Brar, and the other two as militant associates named Muzaffar Ahmad Mir and Javaid Ahmad Sheikh, who were arrested after the strenuous efforts of the Bandipora and Srinagar police, IGP said after the wreath laying ceremony of the duo slain CRPF personnel at RTC Humhama, Srinagar.
As per Kumar, a maruti vehicle was also seized in which bullet cartridges were found and also the subsequent raids were conducted at the hideouts to nab the militants following the interrogation of the one of the militant associates, who were providing logistic support to the militants.
IGP has also said that the two non-local militants and Nadeem had disappeared from the hideouts, which were raided by the forces, after coming to know about their duo associate’s arrest.
However, Kumar also confirmed that one weapon was missing from the spot of attack and said that the police is working to either arrest or kill the other militants — Nadeem and two non locals.
He further said that all the three (Nadeem and two militant associates) had visited the area of attack before a day and had later carried out an attack on March 25 at Lawaypora on the CRPF party. (KNB)
