Two historical ponds at Pattan fully damaged, allege locals

Baramulla 24 August (KNB): The ponds in Pattan area of Baramulla district which were once a sign of brotherhood between the people of two religions are now crying for attention of the government.

The locals, speaking to Kashmir News Bureau, said that both the ponds – Sikh Naag and Muslim Naag – are fully damaged due to the lackadaisical approach of the authority.

“From Muslim Naag we used to take water for drinking purposes as it was very sweet, said Ishtiyaq Qadri, a resident of Pattan. “The people of Sikh community used to come to the pond to drink from it and for ablution. It still has an idol in it,” he added.

Qadri also said that both the ponds have now become a garbage dumping site for the local municipality and appealed to the Governor for his attention. (KNB)
