Duo allegedly involved in drug trade in Baramulla, Sopore and Handwara areas

Srinagar 25 January (KNB): Police on Tuesday said that they have arrested two drug peddlers in north Kashmir Handwara’s Wangam area and recovered two kg of heroin-like substance from their possession.
Police said that In view of forthcoming Republic Day, a police party of Police Station Kralgund and PS Kralgund established a naka at Wangam crossing on Baramulla-Handwara highway and started searching vehicles and pedestrians.
It was said that during naka checking the police party signalled a vehicle bearing registration no. DL9CJ/2559 to stop for checking, but the persons boarded in the said vehicle tried to flee from the spot. “The naka party tactfully stopped the vehicle and apprehended the duo who on preliminary questioning disclosed their identity as Mohd Yousuf Bhat, a resident of Rohama Rafiabad and Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Badan Rafiabad,” police said.
Police further said that during their search 02 kgs of heroin-like substance were recovered from their possession.
“Accordingly Case FIR No 04/2022 U/s 8/21, 29 NDPS stands registered in Police Station Kralgund against the accused persons and both the accused have been taken to Police Station Kralgund for further investigation. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized in the instant case,” said the police.
It was further said that the duo are said to be involved in drug trade in Baramulla, Sopore and Handwara areas. Investigation of the instant case is going on to find out their further associates and supporters in the area, official added. (KNB)
