Srinagar, September 17(KNB): The Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two drug peddlers, identified as Mohd Ashraf Burza and Mohd Imran Khan, in the Safakadal area. The arrests were made during a routine naka (checkpoint) operation, and 22 bottles of Codeine were recovered from their possession.
Mohd Ashraf Burza, son of Mohd Sadiq Burza, and Mohd Imran Khan, son of Gh Mohidin Khan, were apprehended by police from the Safakadal Police Station. The suspects, residents of Saraie Safakadal and Sunarkul respectively, were found in possession of the controlled substance Codeine, a potent painkiller often misused for recreational purposes.
Following their arrest, a First Information Report (FIR) bearing the number 128/2023 was registered against them under Sections 8 and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, which pertain to the possession and trafficking of controlled substances.
Additionally, Police also seized the vehicle used by the suspects, an Eeco car, believed to be involved in the transportation of the illicit drugs.(KNB)
